My daughter, Hannah’s birthday party actually took place a couple of weeks before Christmas and while I had every intention of posting on this sooner I ended up taking an impromptu short break from blogging. Though I hadn’t even been posting as regularly as I’d like I still felt I needed a bit of a rest from it and some time focusing purely on family, friends and getting things ready for Christmas. But I’m now back with a clearer head and ready to get going again.
Hannah’s birthday party has become a huge event in her little life and something she looks forward to immensely. I had hoped that this year she’d want a smaller event for just a handful of friends but it wasn’t even something she’d consider. As she’s no shrinking violet – which I’m really pleased about as I’ve always been painfully self-conscious – she enjoys having the spotlight on her in front of a big group.
This year she said she wanted a ‘magic science party’ and I really wasn’t sure how possible that was going to be. However, after doing a bit of research I came across Sublime Science who provide ‘Mad Scientist’ entertainers and it looked just the job. They have different options to choose from but every package includes making slime and sherbet which is basically what kids’ dreams are made of.
Anyone who’s ever hosted a party for 30 7 years olds will understand that it can be a rather stressful experience but I have to say that it all went really well. The Sublime Science entertainer was exceptional at keeping the kids under control and holding their attention. They absolutely had a ball and Hannah loved every second of it. Quite a few parents told me that their kids said it was the best party they’d ever been to which was really love to hear.
Apart from making slime and sherbet, the kids were kept entertained by a succession of experiments that involved climate, sound and electricity. It was all very thrilling and the kids learnt a thing or two while they were having fun.
I hope the photos convey the great time that was had by all. The venue was a function room at my local (and much loved by me) sports centre. It originally was supposed to be a much nicer hall but I lost that when I had to change the dates at the last minute (long story). However, one thing I’ve learnt from hosting children’s parties over the years is that the venue is the last thing that matters. Kids care about the the party bags, the cake and, most of all, the entertainment.
Sublime Science provide entertainers all over the UK and can be reached on 0116 380 0750.

Many thanks, Rachael
Hi Rachael, Thank you very much indeed – that’s made my day :)) I’m actually working on a ‘best of’ post right now and it should be live in a day or two. Best, Alex x
