A while ago I attended a joint Smashbox and Thirty Plus Blogs event to celebrate the 120 shade collection of Be Legendary Lipsticks. Whilst there we are asked to select our favourite shade. Though this might sound daunting it’s actually quite easy. Firstly the collection is broken down into colour groups such as pink, red, nude, berries etc. and then there are two finishes to decide between – matte or cream. Once you’ve done that you’ve narrowed down your choice quite a bit.
However, having said that, I went to the event with my daughter and she insisted on choosing a colour for me. She didn’t do a bad job but it was a bit too coral for my taste. As I really liked the texture of the lipstick and could see that there were plenty of other good options for me I trotted off to Boots the next week (on my own) to pick out ‘the one’ for me.
I was actually really impressed with how the lipsticks were displayed at the Boots Smashbox concession. They were in the colour groups listed above and all the testers were there. I knew the kind of thing I was looking for so and it didn’t take me long before I honed in on Bad Mood. This is a red but with elements of pink, brown and mauve to it. It’s basically like an enhanced version of my own lip colour so it’s flattering and very easy to wear. I also love the sheer but slightly creamy texture.
At the event we were also introduced to the Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I’m not a fan of mattes generally but I’ve tested them out and they’ve got the most amazing staying power ever – they really don’t budge at all and I didn’t find them drying. Also, they have a very nifty applicator that makes getting a perfectly defined lipline a doddle.
