The latest editions to Shiseido’s much loved Bio Performance range of skincare are the LiftDynamic Serum, Cream and Eye Treatment. There are no prizes for guessing that these products have been developed to firm skin and they’re targeted towards those who are 35+.
Shiseido’s research lead them to discover something that they’ve termed Sub-Derm Pockets below the surface of the skin and as sweat glands shrink due to ageing these pockets become enlarged and don’t support the skin as well. In other words (which are mine and not Shiseido’s) they become saggy.
To counter this, Shiseido have come up with TrusStructiv Technology and this lifts and firms by instructing the fibroblast cells in the skin to produce more collagen and elastin. I have a bit more info on how this works but, to be honest, I don’t entirely understand it so I feel it’s rather pointless repeating it.
I’m slightly dubious when it comes to products that claim to lift skin but Shiseido do have a really good track record when it comes to research and development. And while I don’t think products like these should replace the skincare fundamentals like sun protection, retinols, vitamin c etc. I do think they make good add ons.
I have the LiftDynamic Cream and Eye Treatment and, while I haven’t carried a comprehensive trial and can’t give a verdict on how they perform over the long term, they are very nice products to use. The Cream made skin feel hydrated, soft, firm and bouncy. The Eye Treatment, my favourite out of the two, has a real smoothing effect on the eye contour area and make up sits on top perfectly. Interestingly, the Cream and not the Serum is the more potent product.
The Shiseido Bio-Performance Liftdynamic Cream is £90, the Serum is £82 and the Eye Treatment is £60 and they’re all available from John Lewis.
*Please forgive the stock press image above. The packaging is absolutely beautiful but it’s very shiny and reflective which made it very hard to photograph. The image below is my attempt but it doesn’t do the very pretty bottles justice.
