On the whole I like my skincare to veer towards the clinical side i.e sticking to products that contain a handful of ingredients that are proven to work over the long term. However, that doesn’t mean I eschew products that provide an instant boost and the new Clarins Extra-Firming Mask falls into that category.
There are also times when I want my skincare to be about pampering and taking time out for myself and the Clarins Extra Firming Mask hits that spot as well. The aim of the mask is to relax the skin to rid it of tension lines, firm and add radiance. As I’ve been feeling quite stressed recently it’s the de-stressing element that appeals to me most (though firming and radiance never go a miss).
The mask itself is light purple and you scoop it out the jar with the handily supplied spatula. The directions say to use a thick application but because I’m stingy and want to make the jar last longer I prefer to use a fairly light spread. You leave it on for about 10 minutes before rinsing and it doesn’t really dry out so it stays feeling comfortable. It makes skin look and feel calmer, bouncier and fresher.
For an extra boost you can give yourself a facial massage towards the end of the 10 mins and there’s a short step by step guide in the insert on how do to this. It’s actually quite quick and easy to do and I think it really does help ease facial tension. Of course, you can also use a massage technique you’re all ready familiar with or make one up as you go along. The aim is that it should be relaxing so there’s no point stressing that you’re doing the official one correctly.
The Clarins Extra-Firming Mask is £46 for 75ml and available HERE.
