While Ultrasun is a popular choice for taking on holiday it also has plenty of products that are great to use on a daily basis throughout the year. Undoubtedly, protecting skin from UV rays during holidays in hot climates is vitally important particularly when it comes to preventing skin cancer. However, the best way to effectively fight premature photo-ageing is to use sun protection day in day out regardless of the weather. The reason Ultrasun products are ideal for this task is that they provide UVA protection at of least 90% of the SPF rating (SPF ratings refer to protection against UVB rays only). This is significant because the EU standard only needs to be 33% of the SPF rating and it’s the UVA rays that are mainly responsible for ageing the skin. Following are 5 Ultrasun products that I highly recommend and for more important facts about the brand please check out my Q&A’s with its MD, Abi Cleeve, HERE.
Face Anti-Age SPF 30
This is my favourite face product from the range. It provides excellent protection and is as easy to apply and wear as a moisturiser. It spreads evenly, absorbs quickly and makeup sits perfectly on top of it. As well as UV filters other beneficial ingredients include Ectoin to protect against photo-ageing and Superoxide Dismutase to neutralise sun induced free radical damage. It also leaves skin feeling and looking plump and moisturised. The Face Anti-Age SPF 30 is £20 for 50ml and available HERE.
Lip Protection SPF 30
Lips are especially vulnerable to damage from UV rays as the skin here is so thin but protecting them couldn’t be easier with this lip balm.I’ve lost count of the number of these I’ve used up. I usually have about 3 on the go at once so I can keep them in different bags and pockets. They can be used on their own or with your lipstick. Unlike some lip balms with SPF, the Ultrasun one doesn’t turn white or become gunky in the corners of the lips. The Lip Protection SPF 30 is £6 and available HERE.
Hand Cream SPF 30 Anti-Pigmentation
While using the same UV protection product that you use on your face on the back of your hands is always an option I prefer to use a dedicated protect. This hand cream feels lovely and nourishing and has a brightening effect on existing pigmentation within a fortnight. Of course, regular use will largely prevent pigmentation forming or getting worse along with stopping the skin on the back of the hands becoming wrinkly and thin. The Hand Cream SPF 30 Anti-Pigmentation is £18 for 75ml and available HERE.
Daily UV Hair Protector
This is a spray with a light fruity scent that I use in two ways. Firstly I use it on hot, bright days to protect the bleaching effects of the sun fading my hair colour. The second way I use this when I go swimming as it protects hair against the horrible effects of chlorine. It protects against salt water as well. The Daily UV Hair Protector is £24 for 150ml and available HERE.
Sports Spray SPF 50
This is an incredibly clever and innovative product that is perfect for applying to limps and torso when exercising outside. It’s completely transparent and disappears to nothing on the skin. It’s also non-sticky or greasy, waterproof and resistant to friction such as towel drying. Another advantage of this spray is that it can be used with one hand and can be held upside down which makes it easy to apply to one’s own back. The Sports Spray SPF 50 is £24 for 150ml and available HERE.
