Smith & Cult products are the perfect marriage of premium quality and edgy (but not try-hard) coolness . The brains behind the brand, Dineh Mohajer, also founded the game-changing Hard Candy range of nail polishes back in 1995 . I think you can see the family DNA in both brands though Smith & Cult has all the freshness of being a couple of generations down the line.
Smith & Cult launched with a collection of Nail Lacquers in shades that have the fashion and beauty mavens squealing with delight as they’re so relevant and fashion forward. Also, the solid round bottles with gold dented tops have bags of dressing table appeal and this certainly helps draw people to the brand. Next came the equally covetable vinyl finish Lip Laquers.
The latest launch is the The Tainted Lip Stained which comes in two shades and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with both. Both shades are subtle and very easy to wear. The paler shade is Linger Sigh which adds the merest pink tint to lips and Sweet Suite, the slighter darker shade, adds a wash of pinky coral. They have a good amount of shine but I wouldn’t describe them as being overly glossy. They’re also non-sticky and last longer than I thought they would.
The also react to the lips pH levels to give them a lasting stain but this is also on the subtle side. However, I do find that the level of stain becomes more intense after re-applying the product several times over the day. They have a gorgeous sweet and fruity scent which I find really addictive and also contains skin-loving ingredients such as green tea and peptides. I didn’t feel any drying effects from these at all.
Like other Smith & Cult products they have the signature dented lids and they generally look great which adds to the overall pleasure of using them. I now can’t wait to see what the brand comes out with next.
Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stains are £20 and available from Net A Porter.
