A piece of makeup history will be made today (2nd June) as NARS are opening their first stand alone store in the UK. The address is 9 King Street, Covent Garden (it couldn’t be anywhere else, really) which is a prime spot next to Jo Malone and a few doors along from Urban Decay.
To celebrate the opening the first 50 shoppers will receive a complementary mini Orgasm Blush so it’s definitely worth being one of the first through the door.
Also, on 9th June, Alex Steinherr (Glamour’s Beauty Director) will be hosting an in-store event between 5-8pm which where attendees have a chance to win a Pro Palette, have a makeover, chat beauty tips. On top of that everyone will receive a goody bag. It’s free but space is limited so you need to email email@example.com to reserve your place.
The store itself is everything that you’d expect from NARS. It’s the flagship store in Europe, spread across two floors and has monochrome decor and clean lines. There’s also lots of nice touches such as the Magic Mirror that takes photo and screens that provide information on the cult products when you pick them up.
It’s great to able to see the full NARS ranges given the space they deserve and it really does make it easier to compare products when there’s more room to view them properly. Additionally, they’ll be plenty of makeup artists on hand to give advice, makeovers and help with colour matching.
I had the chance to have a snoop around at a pre-opening party and below are some images I took. Not surprisingly, it was very busy so the quality and angles aren’t great but I hope it gives some idea of what a lovely retail space it is.
You can find NARS Covent Garden at 9 King Street WC2E 8HN open from 10am on 2nd June. The telephone number is +44 (0)207 836 6366.
