NARS have just launched two palettes that are the stuff of makeup dreams. I’ve had them for a few weeks now and my heart still beats faster every time I look at them.
NARissist L’Amour Toujours L’Amour Palette is made up of 12 eyeshadows in what I’d describe as neutrals with a left of centre twist. It’s definitely far more interesting and versatile than the average neutrals palette. The top 4 pans are the shades you’re likely to use the most and these are bigger than the rest which is a nice touch. The shades are mainly cool toned and there’s a good balance between light and dark and a mix of finishes. They’re well-pigmented and have good hold and last on me even if I haven’t used a primer first. All the shades are new and original and my favourites are Amethyst Ash, Sunburst Copper and Industrial Steel.
I’m not the world’s best at swatching (and the same goes for taking photos) so I don’t think my efforts below do justice to the colours in the palette and should only be used as a rough guide only!
From the Top Row of the palette. Bottom to top – Cream Bisque, Shimmering Pink Sand, Amethyst Ash, Black Truffle
From L to R: Middle Row – Golden Starlight, Sunburst Copper, Cafe Au Lait, Pistol Grey. Bottom Row – Industrial Steel, Regal Blue, Shimmering Taupe Cashmere, Shimmering Liquorice.
NARsissist Cheek Studio Palette is a 7 pan set that includes a contouring duo, bronzer and 4 blushes. The contouring duo is already available as Paloma and is good for light, subtle sculpting though can be built up for a stronger look. The bronzer is the cult classic Laguna. This has been my first experience of it and I now understand why it’s so popular. It warms the skin beautifully without making it look dirty or overly shimmery. The four blushes are original to the palette and each shade is wearable on it’s own or combined with another. Before I tried them, I thought the darker blushes would be too intense on my pale skin but a light sweep of either is very flattering. Those which deeper toned skin will be able to go in heavier with them.
Top Row (this is back to front to how it is in the palette – sorry) L-R Laguna, Paloma Contour Blush (Deep Rose, Pink Beige)
L-R Icy Lilac, Sausalito Sunset, Shimmering Rose Peach, Fleshy Pink
Both palettes come in weighty, mirrored compacts. . I think they represent great value as it would cost a lot more to buy the shades individually and I know I’ll get a ton of use out of them .
