It’s hard to believe that Shay & Blue was only established in 2012. Though the fragrances are fresh and modern, the brand is so fully formed, it gives the impression of being long-established. The reason for this is because it was set up by two people with an impressive pedigree – Dom De Vetta, ex Senior Vice President of Chanel and former Global Manager of Jo Malone along with with Julie Maseé, a perfumer, or nose, who’s previously created fragrances for Armani.
I think it’s the attention to detail and curation of their scents that have made this boutique brand gain so many loyal fans in such a short space of time. The presentation of the fragrances is absolutely beautiful from the boxes to the engraved bottle tops. Another plus is that prices start at £30 for 30ml and £55 for 100ml. To my eye and nose, they look and smell a lot more expensive than that.
The latest launch is English Cherry Blossom which is citrus floral. Though it’s still cold, the sun has been shining brightly and the days have been getting longer – the first signs of Spring have started and this scent matches my optimistic mood perfectly.
English Cherry Blossom opens with a blast of sparkling citrus which is followed by the bright floral notes that, thankfully, aren’t too sweet. The florals become more subdued on the dry down as they become more soft and smooth. The whole is shot through with with a hint of woodiness.
It’s the woody-floral chord that makes this fragrance work for me. It gives it the depth and complexity that’s often missing from a lot of florals, that can be too cloying. The full break down of the notes is as follows:
Top Note – Bergamot and green mandarin.
Heart Note – Fig, cassis, honeysuckle and black cherries.
Base Note – Iris and cherry wood.
English Cherry Blossom is £30 for 30ml and £55 for 100ml and available now from Shay & Blue directly. Go HERE for info on other stockists in the UK and around the world along with details of the Shay & Blue Boutique store in London.

Sounds amazing! I totally agree – Shay & Blue seem way more luxury than their price tag suggests. They make the best presents too!
